My little dog

This is a handmade textile artworks inspired by folk art and by my youngest daughter love for dogs.

It is made with a mix of new and upcycled materials.
The little girl was given a coffee bath to get a nice colour and some interesting stains. Her hair is made from orange mohair wool. He wear a patched dress and her shoes are painted red.
In her arms she holds her little black and white dog that i made using fabrics and paint.

At the back of her head I have sewn a little loop so she can be nicely displayed on your walls.
She cannot stand on her own but she can sit against a book.

She is signed.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
