Smiling portrait

This is an handmade textile artwork framed in a wooden embroidery hoop.

I have started by drawing a little character shape with my sewing machine (free hand embroidery), adding details like the clothes.
I have then painted her face features, eyes and toothy smile, and added a stitched nose and hair.
The character is filled up with some stuffing so she slightly pops out from the surface.
I have painted the fabric around her with pink acrylics.
The artwork is safely framed in a wooden embroidery hoop that I closed at the back. It makes it easy to be displayed on your walls with the help of a little hook and a ribbon or string if you wished.

Measurements
The hoop measures 13.5 cm.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
