Red Spring Fairy

This is a small textile artwork inspired by folk art dolls.
It represents a little fairy with vibrant red hair (felting wool). She wears a floral dress and holds a bunch of yellow flowers in her arms. She has beautiful wings made of fabric. Her eyes and teeth are painted, her nose and smile are stitched.
She is inspired by my favourite season of the year, Spring.
She measures approximately 12cm. I have added a loop on her back so she can be displayed like an ornaments.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to
say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
