Fairy with Heart

This is an handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art.
It represents a character with wings holding a heart with a scar in her arms.
The doll is made with a mix of new and upcycled materials.
The body of the doll was tainted with coffee. On her face I have also added very light brushes of acrylic paint. One eye is painted, the other is a stitched cross. Her mouth is made of red thread. She has beautiful and vibrant ginger hair.
Her wings are made of a variety if textiles and I created holes in the front for a beautiful texture.
Her dress has patches all over. She holds a heart with stains, stitches and a scar.

At the back, I have added a string so she can easily be displayed in your home.
She measures approximately 18cm.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
