The Gatherer

This is a textile artwork mounted on a wooden base.

The little character is representing a Forest Gatherer holding a bunch of pink flowers and a branch in her arms. She has two big black eyes (glass eyes), big red cheeks and wears her hair in two long plaits.
Her clothes are made from a selection of new and upcycled materials that I have dyed and distressed for a beautiful look.

She is standing on two wired legs (no feet) that are drilled in a slice of wooden branch. The base is painted white, the sides are irregular.

The artwork measures approximately 15 cm (6 inches).
It is signed.
This is not a toy.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
