Two friends folk art quilt

This is an handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art quilts.

The little girl character and the white cat are raised characters. The decor around them is made from bits of upcycled fabrics. Most of the textiles used for this artwork were stained in coffee and/or dyed in tea. I have used different embroidery threads to slow stitch some areas. Some others are bare.

The back is covered with a fabric backing and it comes with a sleeve and dowel system so it can be ready to be displayed on your walls. This type of artwork can also be taken to a framing shop and be framed beautifully.
Please keep away from direct sunlight and any source of wetness.

20.5x22.5 cm.
8.07x8.85 inches.
Measurements vary as the quilt was absolutely not made with straight lines in mind.

As a doll maker and textile artist inspired by folk art, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
