Little Red

This is an handmade doll inspired by folk art and by my longing for spring.
This is a mixed media artwork as I have used fabric and paint.

The fabric used as a canvas for my character was previously dyed in tea which makes the paint colours muted.
The hair of this little one is made from a very vibrant red felting wool.
On top of her body, I have added stitches made with embroidery floss.
Her legs are attached on the front of her body as i thought it was making her look really cute.

She has a little metal ring at the back of her head and a loop made of craft cord so she can be easily dispalyed on your walls. She can also sit against a book on a shelf.
She is signed.

She measures approximately 19cm or 7 inches.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
