This is a handmade mixed media artwork inspired by folk art dolls.

I do not know the story of this little beauty but I find the way she carries her treasures very touching.
Her body is made from calico. Her clothes are a mix of upcycled materials. Her skirt was eco dyed last summer which gave her a unique colour. Her legs are not stuffed and she wears big black boots for a contrasting effect, a bit like a little bird with their delicate legs.
Her face is a mask sewn on her head. She has white sheep curls for hair and a golden eye without a pupil. She wears a kind of crown, slightly oversized, painted gold and clearly handmade, like the crown a child would make out of cardboard.
In her arms she holds a tintype, the painting of a house transferred onto rusty metal.
Her dress carries another treasure, a portrait of a blue eye princess painted on a torn teabag.

She is signed on her back and I have sewn a little textile loop on the back of her head so she can be displayed nicely.
She should be kept away from direct sunlight and from any sources of water.
She is not a toy and should be manipulated very gently.
Her clothes are not removable.
She is signed.

Measurements
She measures approximately 19cm.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
