Two friends
This is a handmade textile artwok inspired by folk art dolls.
I always enjoy working on characters paired with a little friend in their arms and love when they friendship is unexpected, like a cat and a fish for example.
These two cuties are going against the rules and they cannot believe the rumor saying their friendship is "strange". They love to have daily adventures together, little fish safely tuck in his kitty friend's arms.
They are handmade from a mix of new and upcycled materials . They are both sewn in
calico cotton, painted calico colours with acrylic paint for kitty and in blue tones with inktense for fish. Kitty's skirt is made of a floral fabric to remind her of Spring.
I have sewn a little loop on the back of kitty's head so she can be displayed nicely and easily in your home. Please keep away from direct sunlight as well as from any contact with water.
The artwork is signed.
Measurements
It is approximately 20cm /7. 87Inch tall.
As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
