The memories linger

This is a mixed media artwork inspired by folk art.

This little princess without a castle is holding preciously on her last memories from a happy past. She wears a crown she made herself out of papier-mâché , painted gold and she does not really mind that it is slightly oversized .
Her face is a paperclay mask plate attached on her fabric body. Her white curls are made from sheep wool and they are a little but unruly, a quality she admires.
Her top is made from a rust dyed muslin cloth cotton. Her skirt is made of lightly dyed grey linen. I have added patches and extra stitches to give it some life. I have also sewn on a little princess portrait painted on a teabag. Her legs are dangling and they have been carved in wood.
In her arms, she holds a little "book" made from collage , paint and stitches. It is simply lodged betxween her arms and can be removed and opened. A word of caution, I have used gouache paint for this little book and gouache is very easily reactivated with water, so please handle very gently.

She is signed on her back and I have sewn a little textile loop on the back of her head so she can be displayed nicely.
She should be kept away from direct sunlight and from any sources of water.
She is not a toy and should be manipulated very gently.
Her clothes are not removable.
She is signed.

Measurements
She measures approximately 22cm or 8.66 Inch. .

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
