Carnaval

This is a handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art and by the well loved teddies and other critters from our childhoods.

Daddy Bear and Baby Bear are ready to join the Carnival parade and they are both wearing their favourite pretend hats for the occasion : a beautiful red papier mâché crown for dad and a witch hat for little one.
They are made from calico cotton that I have painted, stained and even torn open at some places for a very distressed and well loved look. On the big bear's body, I have sewn patches, bits of threads, bits of teabag, etc... He has a single black glass eye.
He holds tightly his little one in his left arm.

Measurements
The artwork measures approximately 19 cm or 7.4 Inch.
Width is a maximum of 5 cm or 1.9 Inch.

It is not a toy, this is a signed artwork designed for display and minimal handling.
I have sewn a loop at the back of the head so it can be displayed easily and nicely on your walls.
Please keep away from direct sunlight and from any contact with water.

s a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
