Pigtails

This is a mixed media artwork.

This beautiful little one is handmade from a mix of new and upcycled materials. Her head was sculpted in paperclay and I have given her amazing crackles to achieve a kind of antique look.
She has only one eye, painted blue but two beautiful pink cheeks. Her hair is made from flax and braided in pigtails.
She wears a pink top with a lace collar and a few beads to imitate old buttons.
Her skirt is sewn in a floral pink fabric stained with tea for an aged look. I have added a few "repair" patches here and there and sewn a contrasting seam.
She wears grey linen bloomers.
Clothes are not removable, they are sewn on the doll's body.

Her legs are two sticks of wood.

In her arms, she is holding a poppy seed head (emptied from any seedsl.

At the back, I have sewn a fabric loop so she can be displayed nicely in your home. She can not stand but she can be sitted on a shelf against a book for example.

Measurements
She measures approximately 26cm or 10.2inches.
Her body is pretty thin.

She is signed.
This is not a toy.
Please display away from direct sunlight and keep away from any contact with water/humidity.
Hair is fragile, a gentle dusting with a dry towel when needed only will keep it clean.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
