I will sit on the highest branch of the highest tree

This is a mixed media artwork inspired by folk art dolls and my love of strange tales.

This little one is dreaming she is a bird girl and she loves to wear her homemade bird mask when she goes reading/dreaming sitting comfortably in her favourite tree.

The doll is made of calico stained with coffee. Her plaits are made of flax. She wears a top and skirt (not removable) cut in calico that I have painted black with acrylic paint. Her legs are made in such a way that they look really strange, they are not stuffed.
In her arms she holds a branch of wood where I have sewn a piece of fabric like a flimsy wind turbine.
She wears a cat's portrait on metal on her neck.
The bird beak is made of paperclay and is closed with little hooks which means it can be removed from the doll's head.

Measurements
She measures approximately 17cm or 6.7 Inch.
I have sewn a little loop at the back of the neck so she can be displayed nicely. Please keep away from direct sunlight and from any source of water.
She is signed.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
