Button Eye

This is an handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art dolls and by my love of weird little things.

To make this doll I have used a mix of new and upcycled materials. I have started by working on her face by sewing colourful patches for her nose, cheeks and one of her eyes. I have also sewn a big toothy smile on her because I love my little dolls to be happy.
Her second eye is a big button and I gave her candy floss-like pink hair as well as a slightly oversized bow.
Her clothes are painted (pink top or shoes) or sewn on her body.
In her arms she holds a smaller character, I wanted to make it a doll but in the end I think it might be her little one, they share the same happy smile.

Measurements:
The doll is approximately 23cm or 9 inches tall.
She cannot stand on her own but can sit against a book or something heavy.
I have sewn a little fabric loop on the back of her head so she can be hung on your walls.
Please display away from direct sunshine and from any source of water.

This is not a toy.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
