Chimère, a Forest Spirit

This is a handmade textile artwork inspired by objects found in nature and fairytales.

Chimera is a beautiful and mysterious member of my ongoing Forest Spirit collection. Each of my little wooden Sprites have parts that are made of little treasures offered by nature. In this occasion, the treasure was simply an abandoned snail shell which i have slightly brushed with golden paint.
The body of the doll is made from multiple layers of fabrics that I have dyed in earthy colours. I have given her wings because this is what little Snails-Moths chimeras are looking like. Her face is made of textile , I have painted two yellow eyes and stitched a tiny nose and mouth. she wears her white hair in thin plaits and has two antennas. She has a little arm made from paperclay attached to her right side.

At the back, I have sewn a fabric loop so she can be displayed nicely in your home.

Measurements
She is approximately 11 cm/4.3 inch tall and 11 cm/4.3 inch wide.

She is signed.
This is not a toy.
Please display away from direct sunlight and keep away from any contact with water/humidity.
Hair is fragile, a gentle dusting with a dry towel when needed only will keep it clean.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
