Mermaid and cat fish

Mermaid and catfish is a textile artwork inspired by folk art dolls.

When I was little and was hearing about catfish, this is exactly the type of little creature I thought we were talking about so it was a lot of fun making this little mermaid and her cute little friend.
This art doll is made from textiles painted with acrylic and ink pencils. The mermaid's hair is made from black felting wool.
Her tail is covered with layers of muslin cloth and little patches of fabric. In her arms, she holds her cute friend who was also painted with acrylic paint.

At the back, I have sewn a little loop of fabric so the artwork can be displayed nicely in your home.
Please, jeep away from direct sunlight and from any source of water.

The artwork is signed and is not a toy. Please manipulate carefully.

Measurements
It measures approximately 17cm or 6.6 inches and is 10cm or 3.9 inches wide at its widest.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
