The little hen

This is a mixed media artwork inspired by folk art dolls.

To make this lovely little one, I worked a bit differently than usually. I painted her and decided to sew and cut around her. I like how it gives fraying edges and an imperfect style.
So, alll her body is painted with acrylic paint. I have added a few stitched details such as her nose, black hair, laces and a skirt. Her legs are not filled.
In her arms, she holds a little orange hen who is also painted.

At the back, she has a loop so she can be hung on your walls. She cannot stand or sit on her own but can sit propped against a heavy object.
She is signed.

She is not a toy.
Please display away from direct sunlight and from any contact with water.

Measurements
She measures approximately 26 cm or 10 inches.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
