The little Goth

This is a mixed media artwork inspired by folk art and by my regular dolls.

I am really happy to explore ways to combine my love for painting my little characters and my textile practice. These little ornaments are painted with acrylic and stuffed with filling.

For this particular creation, I made a little character I always enjoy painting, a little Gothic Girl with a skull head on her black dress.
She has hair that are made of black felting wool and I also added a bow on top of her head.

I also love the texture of paint on fabric, I find the rough effect quite delightful.

This little ornament has a loop to be displayed nicely on your walls, Christmas tree or anywhere you fancy really.
She measures approximately 14 cm or 5.5inches.
She is signed, unique and original.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
