The Witch

This is a handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art dolls and by Halloween.

This little witch is looking very sweet and gentle with her cute little black cat.
They are both handmade from a mix of new and upcycled materials.
The little witch's outfit is made of fabrics, some of which has been painted with black acrylic paint. It does give a "rough" or raw effect to the fabric's texture. Her legs are also painted and I have used white thread as laces for her suggested "boots". Her face is drawn with acrylic pens, pastel and stitched. Her hair is made of black felting wool.
Her little feline friend is made of painted textile too.
She holds him tightly in his arms (he cannot be removed).

At her back, she is signed and I have added a loop at the back of her head so she can be displayed nicely on your walls.
Please keep away from direct sunlight and from any contact with a source of water.

Measurements
She measures approximately 22cm or 8.6 inches.
She cannot stand on her own but can sit rather nicely.

This is not a toy.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
