Two birds of the same feather

This is a handmade textile artwok inspired by folk art dolls.

When having a walk with my youngest daughter, we were lucky to spy on a little fox in a street nearby and when I came back home, I knew I wanted to make a doll inspired by this beautiful encounter.
The doll is made from calico stained with coffee. The face is a mix of stitched and painted features while her hair is made from a vibrant orange felting wool.
The top of the girl is painted with lightly coffee coloured white. I have added a few patches and sewn some vintage buttons.
Her boots are painted black with sewn laces.
The little fox is attached to her legs. He is painted bright orange.

At the back of the head, I have sewn a little loop so she can be nicely displayed on your walls. This artwork cannot stand on its own nor sit either.

Measurements

It measures approximately 21cm or 8.3 inch (from the top of the head, not hair, to the feet).

This is not a toy, this is a signed textile soft sculpture.
Please keep away from direct sunlight and from any sources of water.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
