The Good Witch of the Wood

This Witch art doll is a handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art.

Often in fairytales, witches are depicted as wicked and malevolent beings but my little Witch of the Wood is nothing like that and she is such a gentle soul.
I like to see her as the one who can heal thanks to her knowledge of nature and medicinal plants gained from living in the forest.

She is handmade from a mix of new and upcycled materials. Her face is a mask made from paperclay. She has a single eye, a black glass one.
She wears a natural colour outfit with the moon and some stars stitched on it. She just collected a pumpkin in her patch and carries it in her arms and she holds a bunch of sage on her side.
I have painted her boots red with black laces.

At the back, I have sewn a fabric loop so she can be displayed nicely on your walls. Please, display away from direct sunlight and keep away from any source of water/humidity.

She is signed.

Measurements
She is approximately 19cm (7.5 inches) tall and 10cm (3.9inches) wide.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
