Tiny, a Forest Spirit

This is a handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art dolls and by nature.

To make Tiny, I have used fabrics that have been dyed with different colours ranging from yellow to brown green. I have left the colours of the textiles guiding my imagination and the shapes of this little Spirit.
On her head, I have her a kind of a crown of yellow flowers. They are made from flower stems I kept from my garden at the end of last summer, painted with yellow acrylic. Tiny's hair is made from a soft white bamboo fibers.
Her body is covered with layers of fabric and muslin cloth. Her "tail" is made of muslin cloth only, shaped in a gentle curve.

She is signed and has a loop at the back of her neck so she can be hung nicely on your walls.

She measures approximately 18cm.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This is how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
