A big kitty

This is a handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art dolls.

This cat is really big for me! I tend to work on smaller format but I really felt like making something different this time and this how this lovely kitty was born.
She is made inspired by dolls with a very worn out look. She is filled up with both stuffing and strips of fabrics which give her some weight. On some parts like her arms or legs, she has no stuffing at all.
Her body is made with new fabric while her clothes are mostly upcycled.
I have added patches, stitches, coffee/tea stains and holes all over.
She was created with the idea of being displayed on a wall, so I have added a little loop on the back of her head.
She can also sit when propped against something heavy or on a wall.

She measures approximately 41cm or 16 inches.

She is not a toy. She is created to be displayed and she should be kept out of reach from children.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
