A gentle Mermaid

This is a handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art and by nature.

I call this little one a mermaid for lack of a more fitting word. I see her as one of my little Forest Spirits, little beings, gentle souls whom I love to imagine living around us, invisible.
This gentle Mermaid was made from a mix of new and upcycled materials.
I have used some fabrics and some lace that I had previously rusted and ecodyed with flowers from my garden. I have also used a tiny bit of rusted paper, some natural string and a bead.
Her nose is stitched and she has one black glass eye and one button Eye.
I have sewn one of her arms while the other is a stick of wood.

She is ready to be displayed on your walls thanks to a little loop at the back of her head.
Please display away from direct sunlight and from any contact with a source of wetness.

She is signed.

Measurements
She measures approximately 27.5 cm or 10.8 inches. .

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
