This is a handmade mixed media artwork.

This beautiful little lady is handmade from air drying clay. I have painted and drawn her lovely face with a mix of watercolour and acrylic.
Her black hair is tied in two big bunches on top of her head.
Her bust is covered with a turquoise colour felting wool and I have added a collar made of vintage lace and a tiny button.
She is mounted on a piece of wood that I have painted in red colour. I have given the wood a distressed effect.

The artwork is approximately 16 cm tall (6 inches).
The doll cannot be removed from the wood she stands on.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This is how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
