I spy with my little eye

This is a mixed media artwork inspired by folk art dolls and by my love of weird things.

I order to create this character, I have started by making a paperclay mask. For the eye, I used a glass eye usually used for miniature teddy bears.
I have added small bits of newspapers on some parts of the mask. The mask is varnished for protection. Once I had the mask ready, the personality of the little doll was more defined and I really enjoyed working through what was suiting her best..
She has bright red hair that are matched by her red shoes and the red lace of her skirt. To counterbalance the red, I used darker colour for the top of the dress.

She measures approximately 16.5cm or 6.49 inches.
As She cannot stand, I have added a fabric loop at the back of her head so she can be displayed on your walls.
She can sit against a wall, book or any other object that you like. This is actually the way I personally think she looks the most "herself" because her little right leg just goes slightly up in the best perfectly imperfect way and it suits her character perfectly.

Please note that this is not a toy.
She should be displayed away from direct sunlight and from any source of wetness.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.

At the back of the head she has a little fabric loop so she can be hung on your walls for a nice display. She can also be sat on a shelf against a book or the wall.
