Black hair and fox

This is an handmade textile artwok inspired by folk art dolls.

The doll is made from a mix of new and upcycled fabrics. Her hair is made of black felting wool . One of her eyes is a button, the other is a little glass eye for miniature bears in purple colour. Her mouth is stitched as is her nose. I have painted her skin with white paint and added a few darker tones at places for a spookier look. I had not planned to make her spooky, this is just the way she thought she should be. I have placed a dried bunch of white flowers in her arms and a loyal companion at her feet. Her little friend is a little ginger fox made from fabric and paint.

At the back, she has a little loop so she can be hung on your walls. She cannot stand on he own.
She is also signed.

She measures approximately 29cm .
She is not a toy.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
