Oh my heart.

This is an handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art dolls.
It is made from a mix of upcycled and new materials.
Most of the fabrics I have used on this piece have been stained with coffee and/or tea. Her hair is a ribbon, her single eye is a little black glass eye.
I had no set idea of what she should look like and I just followed my heart as I was stitching all the details that would end up being her. I think she is a precious little broken thing and beautiful in all her imperfections.

She measures approximately 23cm. She is signed. This is not a toy.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
