If I can fly

This is an handmade textile artwork inspired by folk art and by my love for distressed materials.

It was made intuitively by playing with shapes, colours, stitches until a little glimpse of a character appeared. When I saw something, it made me think of a fish or a bird, I wasn't sure exactly. I am still not sure what it became but I do enjoy very much looking at it and at its unique beauty.
It was created from calico stained with coffee, muslin cloth, upcycled materials, pencils dye and acrylic paint, embroidery thread and curly wool for the hair.

At the back, I have added a little loop so it can be hung on your walls.
It measures approximately 15cm, please see picture where it is held to have a better idea of its size.
It is signed.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
