Orange

This is an handmade doll inspired by folk art and by my longing for Spring and its gorgeous pops of colours everywhere.
This is a mixed media artwork. The doll is made of calico and I have used acrylic paint to give it a colourful, joyful look. I have then used some pens and embroidery stitches to create marks all over her body.
The hair of this little one is made from a Vibrant orange felting wool. It can be gently pushed up to stay like flames on her head.

Her legs are attached separately and they are dangling on each of her sides. One is definitely shorter than the other. The longest one is decorated with a few colourful beads.

She has a little metal ring at the back of her head and a loop made of craft cord so she can be easily displayed on your walls. She can also sit against a book on a shelf.
She is signed.

She measures approximately 19cm or 7 inches.

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
