Little Spirit of the woods

This is an hand sewn textile artwork inspired by folk art, nature and fairytales.

This little character is a small but mighty Spirit. I can imagine her roaming the woods in search of adventures and wonders.
She is made from calico, muslin cloth, sticks of wood, beads and wool.
I have enjoyed creating textures with stitches, textiles and beads, recreating the ones we can find in the forests .
Her hair is made of flax plaits and green sheep curls.
She only has one eye (black glass eye) and only one arm.
I have added may stains on her with dyes and acrylic.
In the back, I have added some kind of external spine, made with a stick of wood.
She has a little loop so she can be displayed on your walls.
She cannot stand on her own. She can sit (although her wooden arm is a bit long).

She measures approximately 25cm/10 inches. She is signed. This is not a toy?

As a doll maker inspired by folk art dolls, I want to say that the fabric fraying, the threads still showing or the way things are attached to each other are all voluntary processes. This is the way I find that my creations are beautiful. This how I feel they are unique and original. It shows their frailties, flaws and their strength altogether.
I am working with upcycled materials mostly.
